The Bug In Our House

Scissorworm

Please pray for our family. Last week we started round one of the bug! We have been fairly healthy this year, but when we do get a virus in our house, it seems to take a very long time (I can’t imagine why) to be removed from our house. I really wish I could just call the exterminator and it would be gone. But no such luck. Last week Hannah, Carol and Hailey had it. Hailey has had it the worst. She was literally vomitting an entire night. She is still sick! Today Austin and myself have the bug. I am miserable. My stomach is aching. So we have only six more people to go! Please pray for me to get well quickly as our house will not function well tomorrow when Russ goes to work if mom is sick!!

Sabu

Last night I was giving haircuts to Russell, Anthony, Austin, and Uncle Johnny. Samuel decided that he wanted a haircut too. Initially, he had told me that he wanted to grow it out. He wanted to be able to braid his hair. I was good with that, but after I finished my last customer, Samuel hopped in the seat and said he wanted a haircut too. Samuel said he wanted it cut very close to his head. I used the shortest blade I had without shaving him completely. I took it very slowly as I wasn’t sure how cutting his hair would be as it is a different texture from everyone else’s. It came off very easily. Soon I had his hair done. He ran up stairs to look at it and came back down with a big bald spot right above his forehead. “Ma. Wha you do to my hai? You bal me!” I know I didn’t shave his head. I had a blade on the clippers the entire time. I asked him if had a razor. He insisted that he did not. Later we discovered that he had used Russell’s beard trimmer! “Ma. I wan sabu! I wan sabu!” “Samuel, what does sabu mean?” Samuel points to the bald spot on his head. “Sabu, Ma. Sabu.” So we have given Samuel a Liberian haircut…Sabu style! We laughed and laughed during haircutting time. Jeremiah and Joel also received haircuts, but Samuel could not convince them that they needed to have sabu style. Jeremiah just wanted the blade taken around the entire outside of his head. I guess it is exciting for them to choose a style since at the orphanage I believe they had one style…sabu! Hope you enjoy the new looks in our house! We only ended up with one sabu style. The remainder of the boys have hair left on their heads!
