Roasted Turkey
Deep Fried Turkey (first time we did this.  it was fabulous!)

Our sweet Emma Grace turned 5 on November 23.  It is hard to believe.  She is such a little tator tot!  We did cupcakes this year decorated with Tinkerbell decorations.  She was tickled pink!
This is Emma’s second birthday with her forever family.  She has come such a long way since day one.  There is still [...]

Chinese Pizza

Posted by: Sonya on: November 22, 2008

Sweet Emma will be turning 5 on November 23.  We have a tradition in our family for birthdays.  On your birthday, you get to pick your favorite meal….could be something mom cooks, or even dad or a restaurant.  The kids were trying to manipulate Emma in making a decision based on their favorites instead of [...]

Thoughts on National Adoption Month….

Posted by: Sonya on: November 22, 2008

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.  James 1:27 (New American Standard)
I heard a very good commentary on this verse a few weeks ago.  The speaker (forgive me…I can’t remember who the [...]

Shoe Delivery

Posted by: Sonya on: November 22, 2008

Recently we were blessed by a HUGE box of brand new shoes!!!  At one of our soccer games, a family heard about our family and said that they had been given a large supply of shoes that they were to give to someone who needed them….so they thought we qualified!  All the kids got new [...]

I am very excited about an upcoming photo shoot that I get to do. Our church is going to making a new church directory and I get to take the photos! I am a little bit nervous as this is a big responsibility. We are also going to offer picture packages for [...]

Samuel’s Soccer Year

Posted by: Sonya on: November 22, 2008

I didn’t get to post a whole lot on Samuel’s soccer season.  This child has absoultely amazed me!  He and the soccer ball are one!  He truly is very gifted in playing the game!  His team…the Hurricanes…won the championship game!  The final score was 4-1.  Samuel scored 4!
During the first tournament game, one of Samuel’s [...]

Daniel

Posted by: Sonya on: November 22, 2008

We were hoping to have good news about Daniel receiving his passport today, but have not heard anything at this point.  Please pray that all went well this week and that his passport is in hand!!
I am feeling so excited…I guess it is the feeling a person has when you are a little over a [...]

Update on Jeremiah

Posted by: Sonya on: November 22, 2008

I just realized I hadn’t posted any updates on Jeremiah.  One week after his IVIG treatment he dropped down to 24,000.  He had a blood test done at the Health Department today for his monthly check on his INH medicine (for exposure to TB) and the test read that his count was under 3,000.  We [...]

At the Hospital…

Posted by: Sonya on: November 11, 2008

Today Jeremiah and I are sitting at the hospital, patiently waiting to hear his results.  He will probably be undergoing a treatment today.  His count has been slowly dropping.  Yesterday he bled quite a bit.  One of his injuries was still bleeding this morning.
Anthony and Hailey came today to help entertain Jeremiah.  I brought lots [...]

Answers To Frequently Asked Questions About Our Family

1. What do you drive? We drive a 15 passenger Turtle Top bus. It has much more room then a van and is great for traveling! 2. What type of education do your children receive? We have home schooled since the beginning. I have always been very eclectic in our approach. I mix and match to find what works for each child. 3. Are all the kids yours? God has blessed us with a quiver full through biological and adopted children. We love them all equally and are very blessed! 4. Where have you adopted from? We have done private, domestic (through the state) and international adoptions (Liberia). 5. Your done adding children to your family, right? We leave this open to God's calling on our life. We are currently in the process of bringing home Daniel. We are also prayerfully considering bringing home our boys younger siblings Emmanuel and Marienta. 6. Are you crazy? Nope! We walk by faith each day and trust our Heavenly Father to guide us on each new day's adventures! 7. What does your husband do for a living? We actually own our own business. God has truly blessed it. We run an independent diagnostic facility that performs secondary testing for Medicare and other insurance companies. My husband is able to very involved in our every day family life and help with appointments and runs to the grocery store! I really appreciate my husband and his love for God and his family! 8. How do you stay sane? I spend time with my Lord in His word and in prayer. The joy of the Lord is my strength. I also get a couple of hours once a week with another mom of many and we solve all the mommy problems of the world over a good cup of coffee and a sandwich! I also have an awesome church family who always knows when I can use a helping hand. 9. How do you find time for your husband? We have a cute little date table in our bedroom. It is not always practical for us to go out so we may have dinner and a movie in our bedroom. We get the kids to bed early and have our mommy and daddy date night! 10. When do you ever find time to blog? Late at night or early in the morning. Writing is a passion of mine and I try to make the time to do it. One day I hope to have the opportunity to write more and possibly speak!
