The Gift

Posted by: Sonya on: April 25, 2009

When you are willing to say “yes” to the Lord, He blesses you with some of the greatest gifts!  Others may not see or understand, but in your heart you just know that it is right!  Thank you, Lord, for some of the best blessings I could ever ask for!

Taste the Lord

Taste and see that the Lord is good…Psalm 34:8a
Thanksgiving dinner is probably the biggest meal that I eat during the year.  Many of the foods that are passed around the table are foods that are only prepared once a year.  So it is a special meal.  And because there is so much good food, I [...]

There is a Christian family in Ohio who is wishing to place their baby (due date in late August) up for adoption.  This has been a very difficult decision for this family and they need lots of prayers and support.  They are hoping to find a family that will be able to take care of [...]

Please Pray

Posted by: Sonya on: April 9, 2009

Please pray for our family tomorrow, Thursday, April 9.  The below scripture is what I wish that you would pray for our family.
Colossians 4:2-6
“2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for [...]

Freedom

Posted by: Sonya on: April 6, 2009

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.  O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever. Psalm 30:11,12 (NIV)
Recently I was speaking with someone about our Liberian adoptions.  They asked me about my toughest challenge [...]

Liberian Update…UNICEF’s Hands Are All Over It….

Posted by: Sonya on: April 3, 2009

This is the information that we have thus far about the Bill that has passed in the House of Representatives:
A four month residency would be required in Liberia by adoptive families.  Adoptions would only be allowed for children who have lost both birth parents to death.  A Central Adoption Authority would be established in Liberia [...]

Today’s Forever Family Friday Question

Posted by: Sonya on: April 3, 2009

Today’s question:
How did you choose your adoption path (domestic, foster care, or international)?

Summer, Jeremiah and Aubrey!

I guess our family is unique in that we chose all three types of adoption.  When we first started out, we felt a huge calling on the children in the foster care system.  So many older child scenarios.  Our hearts [...]

Parental Rights in Danger

Posted by: Sonya on: April 2, 2009

The following is an email that I received from Parental Rights.org.  Not sure how many of you are aware of how close we are to being under International Law with our rights as parents, but it is a very scary thought.  Please visit this site to find out more information: parentalrights.org

A Day To Pray and Fast

Posted by: Sonya on: April 1, 2009

When I was reading through my Bible this morning, I came across a quote that I had written down (but not sure who said it): “The trials are not always that exciting, but the invitation to believe God for victory – and even favor – is in the middle of them.”
This could not be more [...]

Answers To Frequently Asked Questions About Our Family

1. What do you drive? We drive a 15 passenger Turtle Top bus. It has much more room then a van and is great for traveling! 2. What type of education do your children receive? We have home schooled since the beginning. I have always been very eclectic in our approach. I mix and match to find what works for each child. 3. Are all the kids yours? God has blessed us with a quiver full through biological and adopted children. We love them all equally and are very blessed! 4. Where have you adopted from? We have done private, domestic (through the state) and international adoptions (Liberia). 5. Your done adding children to your family, right? We leave this open to God's calling on our life. We are currently in the process of bringing home Daniel. We are also prayerfully considering bringing home our boys younger siblings Emmanuel and Marienta. 6. Are you crazy? Nope! We walk by faith each day and trust our Heavenly Father to guide us on each new day's adventures! 7. What does your husband do for a living? We actually own our own business. God has truly blessed it. We run an independent diagnostic facility that performs secondary testing for Medicare and other insurance companies. My husband is able to very involved in our every day family life and help with appointments and runs to the grocery store! I really appreciate my husband and his love for God and his family! 8. How do you stay sane? I spend time with my Lord in His word and in prayer. The joy of the Lord is my strength. I also get a couple of hours once a week with another mom of many and we solve all the mommy problems of the world over a good cup of coffee and a sandwich! I also have an awesome church family who always knows when I can use a helping hand. 9. How do you find time for your husband? We have a cute little date table in our bedroom. It is not always practical for us to go out so we may have dinner and a movie in our bedroom. We get the kids to bed early and have our mommy and daddy date night! 10. When do you ever find time to blog? Late at night or early in the morning. Writing is a passion of mine and I try to make the time to do it. One day I hope to have the opportunity to write more and possibly speak!
